The methodology for calculation of P/E ratio for S&P CNX Nifty and CNX Nifty Junior reckons the annual net profit of the index constituents. With the availability of quarterly results with the Exchange, it is proposed to henceforth take the 4 trailing quarter net profit figures to incorporate the latest available information about the earnings of the companies.

The change in methodology will be implemented w.e.f. Dec 20, 2004.
