The press had reports on June 19, 2003 that Gas Authority Of India Limited has discovered oil and gas near Ahmedabad in an onshore block.
The Exchange, in order to verify the accuracy or otherwise of the information reported in the press and to inform the market place so that the interest of the investors is safeguarded, had written to the officials of the company.
The company has vide its letter inter - alia stated, ''The exploration block CB-ONN-2000/1 was awarded to the consortium of GAIL, GSPC and Joshi Technologies International Inc, USA under NELP-II. The well has been drilled and while drilling very encouraging results has come".
