Mr. Srinivas Injeti holds a bachelor’s degree in arts (honours) in economics from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University, and a master’s degree in business administration from the Strathclyde Graduate Business School, Scotland. He is a retired Indian Administrative Services officer (1983 batch). He has over four decades of experience (including 37.5 years as an Indian Administrative Services officer) in corporate regulation, financial services, governance, and public policy. He has served as the union secretary in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs from 2017 to 2020, leading reforms in insolvency law, competition law and company law. This includes, among others, (i) examining issues arising from the implementation of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016, an important economic legislation, as a chairman of the Insolvency Law Committee; (ii) the decriminalisation of a large number of offences under the Companies Act 2013 to promote the ease of doing business, as chairman of the ‘Committee to Review Offences’ under the Companies Act, 2013; (iii) review of the competition law framework including introduction of a ‘Green Channel’ for combination notifications, as chairman of the ‘Competition Law Review Committee’; and (iv) review of the regulatory framework on corporate social responsibility, as chairman of ‘High Level Committee on Corporate Social Responsibility – 2018’. Further, during his tenure in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, he was involved in overseeing the establishment of the National Financial Reporting Authority and the Independent Directors’ Databank. As the founding chairperson of the International Financial Services Centres Authority (“IFSCA”) from 2020 to 2023, he was involved in the establishment and setting up of IFSCA, India’s maiden international financial services centre. Previously, he also served as the union sports secretary and director general of the Sports Authority of India where he was involved in the formulation of the Khelo India programme and the National Sports Code of India, 2011. He has also served as Chairperson of the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority, as municipal officer at the U.N. Mission in Kosovo and as capacity development adviser at the UNDP National Institution Building Programme, Afghanistan. He has previously served on the boards of SEBI and the Life Insurance Corporation of India. He was a member of the Financial Stability and Development Council of India from 2017 to 2023.
