NIFTY Midcap 50 Index
The primary objective of the NIFTY Midcap 50 Index is to capture the movement of the midcap segment of the market. NIFTY Midcap 50 includes top 50 companies based on full market capitalisation from NIFTY Midcap 150 index with preference given to those stocks on which derivative contracts are available on National Stock Exchange (NSE).
Market Representation:
- The NIFTY Midcap 50 Index represents about 6% of the free float market capitalization of the stocks listed on NSE as on March 29, 2019.

The total traded value for the last six months ending March 2019, of all index constituents is approximately 13.3% of the traded value of all stocks on NSE.
NIFTY Midcap 50 Index was computed using market capitalization weighted method from the launch date till February 25, 2010.
